Chicken pox is an acute, contagious infection of the Herpes Zoster virus. The immune response to this infection creates a low-grade fever and oozing, itching sores almost anywhere on the surface of the body. They may even occur on mucous membrane surfaces such as the throat. If sores are scratched or picked they can leave scars.

Chicken pox is aided naturally by enhancing the immune system's ability to expel the virus from the body. This is accomplished by taking frequent doses (every 2-4 hours) of alterative or blood purifying herbs such as VS-C, BP-X, Enviro-Detox, burdock, golden seal, Oregon grape, safflowers Or yellow dock along with plenty of water.

IF-C or Nerve Eight can be used to help reduce fever and inflammation. Aspirin is not recommended because it suppresses the body's ability to eliminate the virus, which causes problems with shingles later in life.

Remedies used to ease topical itching may be helpful as well. These include baths, compresses or fomentations using burdock, comfrey, goldenseal, Hydrated Bentonite, chickweed or Oregon grape.

Aloe Vera Gel, Black Walnut extract and Silver Shield are also useful topical remedies.
